Sarata Conateh is the Director of Business Development and serves as chief of operations at the GCCI. She joined the Chamber in 2003, and in 2005 headed the Economic and Training Unit. She progressed to Manager of Business Development in 2010, and in 2015 was appointed as Director of Business Development. She is presently responsible for Business Advocacy; Entrepreneurship and Management Training; Business Development Services (BDS); Inter State Road Transit (ISRT) Scheme; and the Annual GCCI Business Awards Dinner. She holds a BA Economics from Saint Mary’s University, Canada.
Mrs. Conateh has participated in implementing various development assistance to the Gambian private sector operators. She has contributed in development of the Gambian Private Sector Development Strategy (PSDS) and supported in the coordination of the National Economic Summit, which is the highest dialogue platform for Public Private Partnership (PPP) in The Gambia. She partook in facilitating the training on negotiation skills for the Gambian private sector through a 2 year European Union (EU) Economic Partnership Agreement fund. Furthermore, she was pivotal in the implementation of the Dialogue Structures and Strategies for the Gambian private sector through a project co-funded by the ProInvest Management Unit, Center for Development of Enterprise in Belgium.
